+ INTERVIEW THE MANAGER
The manager Ms. Tsuchiya accepted our interview so nicely ! ( Her accent sounds like Kansai people..) |
| Q: Why did you decide to locate this shop in front of Tokyo Tower? |
A: That is because our owner’s idea.
“Tokyo Tower” is the first thing to hit our mind when we thought of location Tokyo. We wanted to make our restaurant the best one in Japan in front of the symbolic tower.
We opened since April 2005 and renovated in April 2006. It’s been 2 years after that.
|
Q: What is the main concern about this restaurant? |
A: We’re honored to get franchised from the famous shop “Kushitei” in Kishiwada, Osaka so we want to expand the Osaka culture, “Kushiage/ Deep fried skewer” in Tokyo.
Our “Kushiage” is special because the layer of flour is really thin that you can taste ingredients more and also it won’t absorb the oil much. I know ladies care how much we use oil but it’s much healthier than they imagine.
We use sunflower oil that their olein acid will help making light texture.
The rice we use is “Koshihikari :One of top brand” and the rice shop is helping us to get the best one at that time so the origin place will varies like Ishikawa, Yamagata, Fukushima .. etc. ( The day we visited, it was from Ishikawa. )
We also really care about water for the rice. We chose “Abekan” brand which is known for making “sake”.
|
Q: What kind of customers is majority for a lunch time? |
A: Weekdays we have a lot of office workers and ladies. Gents are 40%, Ladies 60% maybe. For weekends, are mainly those visitors of Tokyo Tower.
|
Q: When is peak hours for lunch? |
A: Weekday around 12:00 to 13:00, Weekends a bit later, after 13:00.
|
Q: Any message to customers? |
A: We have very limited number of seats ( 22 at the counter and 1 private room ), sorry to say that some people have to wait outside. If you can come after 13:00 for a weekday, that would be better. On the other hand, for a weekend, around 13:00 is the peak so earlier is better.
Anyway please come and try our foods using well examined ingredients. Our rice and miso soup have free refills !! |

+ LUNCH MENU
They have 4 kinds of lunch set on weekdays.
“Kushiage set” and “Sashimi set / only 10 set each day” are regular ones and they have 2 more daily set.
Please check the black board outside!!
* “Kushiage Gozen ” ( right photo ) :
Kushiage set: seasonal kushiage - 5 kinds ( we had shrimp, tender pork, pumpkin, green pepper, white fish ) and the side dish was Japanese pickles and seaweed
* “Sashimi Gozen (set)”
Only limited 10 set a day. Manager said he can’t tell when they ran out. Sometimes before 12:00, sometimes still available after 13:00.
Anyway right after they start lunch at 11:30, I am sure you will get it!!
+ ATMOSPHERE
Can see huge Tokyo Tower. So it’s easy to find.
It was my boss recommendation and when I saw the fancy entrance, I worried it might be expensive for me… But I found out I didn’t have to when I saw the price on their menu.
It is bright inside and they have 22 counter seat. ( also one room as well ) You won’t be bored you can watch they’re preparing your meal or the people gathering around Tokyo Tower!
I ordered “Kushiage set” without question. It was nicely hot and crispy! As the manager told me, the crisp layer was so light. The pork was really tender and I liked it.
We should mention about this “Chirimen Rice / Baby sardines rice” Koshihikari rice with baby sardines and Japanese pepper has so refreshing flavor. This Japanese pepper really matches with deep fried item!!
I saw a young lady asking tem for second helping rice. Yes, she is right. You shouldn’t hesitate to ask! Otherwise you’ll regret it!!!

+ RESEARCH
This research was made on Feb 4th (Sun) 2007.
+ ADDITIONAL INFO
The Bistro “GARB pintino” which is next to this “Kushi” is also quite popular place. I tried a cup of cappuccino after “Kushi” and observation tour at Tokyo Tower. Their pattern of milk foam is fantastic!! The price was 600 yen.
Their terrace seat is covered by glass wall and has stoves which is quite nice. Of course they have super nice view of Tokyo Tower from low angle.
I preferred a bit clear glass but in the night time they must have good view of tower lighted up. Nowadays this tower is becoming a bit retro slow spot but having more fancy place like here will bring young people back again.
And of course don’t forget to stop by our Azabu Interior show room after that!!
